Rewarding excellence for the creation of compelling educational, historical and entertainment projects, the TEA’s prestigious Thea Awards reinforce the value of experience design and themed entertainment approaches to engaging people worldwide.

The annual awards recognize large and small accomplishments and outstanding achievements of projects that demonstrate the power that the creation of compelling places and experiences can have on the guest and visitor experience.

The Theas are presented at a grand black tie gala awards ceremony.

THEA Program & Directory

More than just an awards program, the Thea Award program is the annual directory providing some of the year's best of the attractions industry. This yearly overview shines a light on some of the year’s highlights - describing the recipients of all categories and featuring articles on the state of the industry by some of its brightest luminaries.

Awards Process

Nominations for the Thea Awards are accepted from late November through early July of the following year. Each year, the Thea Awards Nominating Committee reviews the submission and recommends a slate of a dozen or more Thea recipients for approval by the TEA International Board of Directors. In November, TEA announces the new slate of approved award recipients who will formally receive trophies the following March at the Annual Thea Awards Gala. The Thea Awards Gala is open to the public and tickets may be purchased by phone through the TEA online box office.

As part of the awards process the project owner provides, and TEA publishes, a comprehensive credits list acknowledging the designers, producers, technicians, consultants and suppliers in recognition of their roles (when available). In this way the Thea Awards honor the vision and dedication of the project owner while bestowing and recording credits for those who realize the project.

THEA Awards

This annual print magazine is released in March and first distributed at the Thea Awards Gala (TEA’s prestigious international awards celebrating excellence in the creation of compelling places and guest experiences). It contains the comprehensive credits lists for each Thea Award recipient, articles profiling each recipient, and a program for the Awards Gala. Copies of the program are distributed throughout the year at a variety of trade events.
